Space derby event - Cub Scout Pack

Last Saturday my 8 year old son took part in space derby event. Space derby, a game played with   great enthusiasm and passion is recognized by a majority of people. It’s a different kind of game that involves the cub scouts in their game. Cub scouts, a name given to candidates participating in space derby event majority of them consists of ages from eight years to 10 years and exists in countless number introduces various events in their game like pine wood derby that relies on cars, raingutter derby relies on boats and more. Space derby is one of those games that introduce rockets in their game. Started with a thought in mind to aware teenagers with the laws of kinematics with these activities of organizing space derby events, it has proven beneficial to polish up the science skills of students. 

Space derby is based on rockets that are forced by a propeller on a fishing wire. Each Cub Scout is provided with a Cub Scout pack that contains a rocket, propeller and rubber bands in it. The game is completely based on three categories First one is speed, next one is design and the last one is creativity. Speed depends on how fast your rocket is, it depends on how creative your rocket design is! Is your rocket well enough to follow the rules of science? Next come outlook of your rocket which simply means how good your rocket is to catch the attention of viewers. Last one is your creativity i.e. is your rocket solid enough to complete the race? Make sure your rocket construction should be solid enough to bear a little force or resistance and can’t be broken in the way.
